Territory hierarchies can help leadership teams manage their team more efficiently. It is essential to set up territories and hierarchies as your business grows, making for a more comfortable setup for new team members and better visibility for reporting.
It is now possible for reps and managers to belong to multiple Territories. This will allow for better team management, no matter the structure.
When managing your territories in Repsly, it's important to note that editing, moving, or dragging territories may encounter limitations if the territory already has places assigned to it. Here's what you need to know:
-
Editing Limitations:
- If a territory has places assigned to it, editing, moving, or dragging the territory becomes restricted.
- Before adding a sub-territory to an existing territory, users must first unassign all places from that territory.
By ensuring that places are unassigned from the territory beforehand, you can seamlessly edit and manage their territory hierarchies in Repsly.
Here's how it works:
Territory builder
We have introduced the Territory builder to create territories or territory hierarchies to group your places, representatives, and Backoffice users. You can navigate to the Territory builder by clicking on the Gear icon and then selecting Territories.
With the Territory builder, Backoffice users can perform the following tasks:
- Create, edit (move with drag & drop) or deactivate a multi-level hierarchy.
- Edit Place and Representative user assignments
- Multi-select territories for Representative assignments.
Admin users can use the Territory builder to create & edit a multi-level hierarchy.
Admins can use the Territory builder to manage the assignment of Places and Representatives.
Territory filtering from the web app
Admin users can have restricted access based on territory access. They can also select a multi-level hierarchy in all filters & reports.
Importing places with territories
Our improved import of places will allow users to import places with assigned territories just like before and enable them to create whole hierarchies.
With our territory hierarchies:
- Places in a hierarchy can be assigned only to the lowest-level territories (leaves).
- Reps and back-office users can be assigned to any level in the hierarchy
- Reps and back-office users can be assigned to multiple territories
Territory hierarchy on the mobile app
Representatives on the mobile application:
- can be assigned to multiple territories
- can have restricted access to data based on permissions
- can choose a territory in which they are working (if they have more than one)
- if adding a new place from the mobile app feature is available for them, the newly added place will default to the rep’s current Territory.

How to use the Territory builder
To develop and manage your territories, click on the Gear icon select Territories and follow the below instructions.
1. To add a new root Territory, click on the Add New Territory button. If you have many Territories in your account already, make sure to scroll to below your existing territories and you will find the button on the bottom left of the page.
2. If you want to create a sub-territory, click on the green plus button next to the Territory that you want to divide in more territories to create a new sub-territory.
Deactivating a parent Territory will deactivate all children.
3. You can drag and drop individual Territories to arrange their position in the hierarchy but also drag and drop whole Territory branches that belong to one root Territory or change the position of entire territory groups.
You can drag and drop only under those Territories that have no Places assigned to them.
When you're done, click on Save to confirm the changes or on Discard if you'd like to start over.
