This article provides a detailed summary of both comments and notifications in Repsly.
Comments
We'll start things off by reviewing how comments work.
Who can use the comments feature
- The comment feature is available in all editions of the application.
- Comments can only be created if there is an existing field activity.
- To post a comment, the user must have an activity already generated in the system.

Which type of user(s) can comment
- Representatives (reps) can post comments on their activities and all other available activities.
- Back-office users can also post comments on any available field activity.
- Communication through comments is possible between two reps or a rep and back-office user.
What are the conditions that need to be met for commenting?
Reps can only post a comment if they can view the activity which takes territory and other rep assignments into consideration; so if filtering is set to make other rep’s activities unavailable, they should not be able to comment on other rep’s activities.
Notifications
Next, we'll review how notifications are configured in Repsly.
Notifications for comments
- When a rep posts a comment on their activity, all back-office users will receive a notification.
- When a rep posts a comment on another rep’s activity, both the rep whose activity was commented on and all back-office users will receive a notification.
- If reps or back-office users are in certain territories, they should not receive comments for activities created outside their territories.
Notifications for schedules
- When a schedule is created, amended, or deleted, back-office users will be prompted to notify the relevant rep(s).
- If the back-office user chooses to send a notification, the rep in the field will receive it in the mobile app, assuming they have notifications enabled. *Please note these notifications are delivered as mobile push notifications and are not displayed in the list of notifications inside the app.
Web App Notifications (Back-Office Users)
- Back-office users can view a list of all comments on all activities.
- Clicking on a notification will open the related activity where back-office user can comment back
- If an activity is no longer available to the back-office user (due to different filtering) , they should not receive any notifications related to that activity.
Mobile App Notifications (Field Representatives)
- Field reps have access to a list of all received notifications within the mobile app.
- Clicking on a notification will provide details about the notification, including the text and a link to the related field activity.
- If the activity is no longer available to the rep, they will be prevented from accessing it.
In-App Mobile Notifications
Some notifications are locally triggered within the mobile app. These notifications include:
- Check-out notifications
- Rest period reminders
- Auto check-in alerts
- Workday status: This notification offers the rep the option to clock out at the end of the workday.
Managing Notifications
Reps can choose to turn off these in-app notifications via the settings in the mobile app.
